Management systems and standards

The application of management standards is an important tool for organisational social responsibility. These represent a set of procedures, practices and detailed measures to be used by organisations to manage the various aspects of their activities effectively, efficiently and responsibly. There exist management standards in different areas (quality, environment, social protection, integrated approach, etc.) with which a significant number of organisations are already familiar. Developed by officially recognised international bodies and attracting a very broad consensus, the management standards discussed below are widely used to give practical effect to social responsibility by players in society. Developing and monitoring indicators is an important part of the application of these management systems. They make it possible to measure economic, social, environmental and structural performance within an organisation, and hence to monitor and evaluate these aspects. These indicators are the essential element in corporate Reporting, insofar as they offer a quantifiable image of an organisation to stakeholders.
